"Tending the Web" - a print from an original wallhanging

Detail from “Tending the Web”, a wallhanging by Bertha Day. Beause she designs the work as she goes each piece is truly different. The inspiration comes from wildflowers and the ever changing scenery around St. Andrews. The original wallhanging is done on 100% cotton with colourfast fabric paint and dyes. In the free motion machine work the webs, leaves and grasses are drawn with the machine needle as she sews using a regular straight stitch machine.
