Hummingbird and Lupins Along the St Croix River - from print series Scenes of New Brunswick

Hummingbird with Lupins and Sailboat near Oak Bay on the Saint Croix River, New Brunswick, Canada. In early summer, the fields and ditches of the Maritime Provinces and Maine are a mass of blue, purple and pink lupins. The wild lupins are likely Russell lupins that escaped from gardens in days gone by. Their dramatic show begins in June and if the weather remains mild, their beauty may last for a month or so. They are a larger relative of the Texas Blue Bonnet.
