"Sweet Delight - Girls on the Go" 18" x 14" - $70 - mixed media collage on stretched canvas These great girls who are busy going about their business are a familiar site in most towns and cities. For the background I created the look of the labels we used to see on old fruit crates. The sweet delights in this collage refer to both the girls and the watermelon. Text and other stamps add interest. Bordered with lace. Is there anything more delicious than young ladies like these flaunting their latest fashion. Sweet delight indeed. The design is wrapped around the edges and the whole is finished with satin acrylic medium to protect the work. No need for glass or a frame. |
 "Golden Gems" 14" x 11" framed - $70 - mixed media collage on canvas board These three girls are fashion conscious and are strutting their stuff as they model their latest outfits for us. Again the background is created with my pseudo vintage fruit crate labels. The expression 'Golden Gems' relates in this case to the oranges and, of course, to golden girls of summer. I named this version of the vintage fruit label after one of my granddaughters, Gemma. I've done some others that are named for our other granddaugher, Sydney. Is there anything more delicious than young ladies like these flaunting thier youth and latest threads? This is finished with satin acrylic medium to protect the work. No need for glass or a frame. |

The other textured papers I painted with fluid acrlics using whatever I could find to create interest.Some of the base papers were from old magazines. "SydKist" 12 x 16" - $70 - mixed media collage on stretched canvas I think these girls are heading out on a shopping trip - on the hunt for the latest fashions. Again the background is created with my pseudo vintage fruit crate labels. This version of the vintage fruit label (SydKist) is named after our granddaughter, Sydney. "Summertime" 12" x 12" - $50 - mixed media collage on stretched canvas The canvas was covered with tissue which I had painted with fluid acrylics. Layers of tissue create the look of a wash. Text, a time piece, sea shells and a chorus line of bathing beauties set the tone for summer. I had earlier painted the poppies on tissue as an experiment. They were the perfect colour to invoke the feeling of warmth of a summer day. Finished with satin acrylic medium to protect the work - the edges are finished. |
